HOME TO THE USA....

Sunday, March 22nd, 1992

Jim gave me the rose pin this morning. We’d set the alarm for 7:30 am but got up before 6 am. Jim was up at 5, he said. I asked to eat breakfast in the hotel dining room, mass confusion again due to language so gave up and headed for Orly Sud by 8 am. RAINING lightly.

We checked in easily then began the quest for breakfast. We were out of franc and no one wanted the credit card. So, we ended up in a super market where we found out we needed a minimum of 104f to use the credit card…one umbrella later we were setting on the edge of a planter in the terminal eating brea, scooped-out butter (no knife), banana-pineapple juice! Nice breakfast. (I actually had some cash but was saving it for souvenirs and didn't want to spend it...opps....he would not have been happy if he knew about that! But, I still have that umbrella today and it's one of my favorite memories! )

How do you kill three hours, walk..sit, walk…sit, walk….sit!!! But, finally we were on the airplane and in the air by 11:50 am. Next stop Atlanta, Georgia. Huge plane; seated nine across. We’re in the center section again.

They served us a chicken dinner with that odd French vegetable that tasted like cabbage. Wine to drink but since we had a bloody Mary we had coffee. At last (4 hours later) we had a movie, Curly Sue. Arrived in Atlanta at 9 PM. Nine and half hour flight. It was 3:30 PM Atlanta time. Got through customs with no problem and found our next plane which was due to leave at 5 PM. We were delayed forty-five minutes. Coming into LAX now at 7:15 PM. Hope our son is there with the car..... It’s been seventeen hours since we left Paris.

POSTSCRIPT: I've posted a photo taken a week after our return; we're at our International Convention in San Francisco on March 31st. Jim and I are celebrating receiving our Centurion Office Award....note that I'm wearing my little French leather skirt purchased in Paris during our trip! I still have the cast on my arm; that is why the sleeve of my coat is hanging free....it would not fit over the cast! Thought you'd enjoy the photo....

Stay tuned for our next adventure...a trip to Germany in 1996......starting tomorrow...

My question...today where is the little leather skirt? You certainly did look very "french" with your short brown hair and tight little skirt. Have enjoyed visiting France with you in 92 and look forward to Germany in 96.
